Tsaritsa Maria Feodorovna of Russia's handcoloured portrait photograph of her father, King Christian IX of Denmark. Second half 19th century. Gilt bronze Louis XVI frame. H. 18 cm.
Provenance: According to the seller's information the portrait was first at the Royal Danish Amalienborg Palace, but later the king himself gave it to his daughter, Tsaritsa Maria Feodorovna. She had it brought around to her apartments at the various imperial palaces at Gatchina Palace, Anitchov, Peterhof and Livadia. Recently it came to her Danish residence “Hvidøre” in Denmark, after which it was inherited by his daughter, Grand Duchess Olga Alexandrovna. Later, she gave it to the family Ussing in Ballerup, Denmark, whereafter the present owner bought it.
