Kunst i Privat Eje, 1945, vol. lI , reproduced and mentioned p. 323. Here, the painting is emphasized as a “characterful image”, and it is assumed as one of the last paintings Schou painted before he went to Rome. It is described here as charcoal burner from Nordsjælland (North Zealand).

Condition

Canvas has been strengthen with new canvas along the edges. The canvas needs tightening. A few very small peelings. Crackles. One repair and a few small old retouches beneath the varnish layer and a few small more recent retouches on top of the varnish layer.
