Arne Jacobsen (b. Copenhagen 1902, d. s.p. 1971)
“Giraffe”. High back chair with moulded ash wood frame and profiled legs. Sides, seat and back upholstered with green fabric. Designed 1959. This example manufactured approx. 1959 by Fritz Hansen.
This rare chair was designed and made 1959 for use in the dining room of the SAS Royal Hotel in Copenhagen. The chair was never produced for sale to the public. Only approximately 120 chairs were made for the hotel.
