Vasa, hand built ship model, carved and painted wood. H. 82 cm. L 105 cm. In showcase. H. 146 cm. L. 122 cm. W. 46 cm.

Vasa was ordered by the Swedish King Gustav II Adolf and built in Stockholm from 1626. After a few gusts on the maiden voyage the ship sank. At least 30 of the 150 crewmembers died. After 333 years on the bottom of the sea Vasa was retrieved and can be seen at The Vasa Museum in Stockholm.
