Undoubtedly the most famous Churchill photograph ever taken, captured while the outcome of World War II was still undecided and just three weeks after the United States entered the war on the Allied side. Contrary to what many take for granted, Winston Churchill was not prepared to be immortalized that day and exclaimed, when introduced to photographer Yousuf Karsh and seeing his equipment: 'What is this, what is this, why wasn't I informed?' A moment later, Churchill added, as he placed a new cigar between his lips and lit it: 'You may take one’.
This is an original black-and-white photogravure from 1976. No remarks/mint condition.
