A large collection of b/w photographs from the Danish West Indies, Iceland and Faroe Islands. Consisting of a hardback album containing 82 photographs and 92 unattached photographs. Album 24×18 cm. Photographs 8×11 cm. (174).

Provenance: Member of the Danish parliament Holger Aagaard Hammerich (1845–1915).

The photographs originate from a voyage made in the early 20th century by a group of Danish parliament members, including Holger Aagaard Hammerich, who were to give advice to the parliament concerning a possible sale of the Danish West Indies to the United States. Eventually the islands, today known as the US Virgin Islands, were sold in 1917.

Condition

Have yellowed slightly due to ageing. Untattached photographs furthermore curled up. Album with normal signs of age and wear.
