Vilhelm Lauritzen (b. Slagelse 1894, d. Gentofte 1984)
Unique ladie's chair with tapering, white painted legs. Sides, seat and back upholstered with floral fabric. Designed and made approx. 1934 by cabinetmaker Jacob Kjær.
Provenance: Grandson of the original owners.
The present ladie's chair was designed for the villa at Øregårdsvænget 7 in Hellerup, designed 1934 by Vilhelm Lauritzen. The sofa was a part of the “mistress' bedroom” interior.

In 1934 Vilhelm Lauritzen built a villa on Øregårdsvænget 7 in Hellerup, a house that was tailored to the wishes and demands of the owners. Included in the project was also proposals for the interior. Specifically for the mistress' bedroom the requirement was that it should be of a design that was on par with any Hollywood film interior of the period. Cabinetmaker Jacob Kjær was chosen for the task, and the result was a bedroom with a dressing table and stool of exceptional form as well as a special bed, a small sofa and this upholstered chair. Today, only the small sofa and the chair still exist according to the owner.
