Anna Witter was employed at Den Kongelige Porcelænsfabrik (The Royal Porcelain Factory) as a modeller from 1913–1918 and was probably trained here. In addition to her work at the porcelain factory, she mainly modelled portrait busts, sculptures and statuettes in stone, plaster, bronze and also worked with silver.
She received a scholarship from Hjelmstjerne-Rosencrone in 1910. Witter made her debut at Charlottenborg in 1909 - and in 1910 she exhibited a version of the work “Armod” (Penury), which is included in this auction, and then frequently until 1929. She also exhibited at Kunstnernes Efterårsudstilling (The Artists‘ Autumn Exhibition) several times, in Munich at Glaspalast in 1913, she was represented at Kvindelige Kunstneres Retrospektive Udstilling (The Women Artists’ Retrospective Exhibition) in 1920, several times at 18. November Exhibition and in 1928 at the September Exhibition.
