Since 1917, Cartier has created an incredible array of Tank models, including the Cintrée, the Americaine and the Asymetrique. One of the latest additions the range is the Tank Francaise, which was introduced in 1996. This model is distinguished from the others primarily by its bracelet. The Tank Francaise has since the 1990s been designed in various metals, different dial variations, with or without diamonds and in many sizes. This particular example is one of the most extravagant, yet elegant iterations of the model. Made in 18k white gold, the watch glows with a slight but noticeably warmer hue than those in steel. What sets this watch apart from the others, however, is the quality and sheer amount of diamonds adorning it. These have all been set by Cartier who then supplied the watch to their authorised retailer in Monte Carlo. Although great diamonds can certainly be had elsewhere, knowing that they were set by Cartier is a kind of guarantee, that the quality of the stones and setting is of the highest level.
