“Paimio”. Armchair with laminated molded birch frame, black-lacquered birch plywood in seat and back. Model 41. Designed 1931. Manufactured by Artek, Finland.
The model was designed for the Varsinais-Suomi tuberculosis sanatorium in Paimio, Finland. The lecture hall, at the east end of the dining-hall floor, was furnished with wooden chairs which later came to be known as the “Paimio chair”.
Light patina with minor scratches and marks.
