Venus Orbiter space probe: An original NASA colour offset photograph of the planet Venus as seen from the Pioneer Venus Orbiter Mission (also known as Pioneer Venus 1 or Pioneer 12), which was launched from Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Florida on May 20th 1978. Present exposure of the planet Venus December 4th 1978. Photo size 28×21.5 cm. Frame size 43×33 cm.

Venus is planet number two in our solar system, counted from the sun. Venus is often described as a sister planet to Earth due to the fact that the two planets roughly have the same size and mass. There are, however, also distinct differences between the two planets. The average temperature on Venus (surface) is 453 degrees celcius and the atmospheric pressure is 90 times higher than on Earth, factors making the planet uninhabitable for man.

Condition

This is an original NASA colour offset photograph from 1979, which has yellowed slightly due to ageing/storage condition. No further remarks.
