Andrei Dementiev a.o. (, Moscow)

11 quatrefoil Russian silver and parcel-gilt vodka cups, primarily embossed with rocailles, blossoms and foliage, others with chiseled ornaments. Various makers, a.o. Andrei Dementiev, assayer Andrei Andrejev 1776, alderman Fedor Petrov (1759–1784), Moscow town mark. Weight 332 g. Together with a vodka cup of silvered metal, unmarked. H. approx. 3 cm. L. 7–8 cm. (12).

Provenance: The Danish Envoy and Consul General Hans Poul Hoffmeyer (1893–1962). Secretary of Legation in Vienna, Berlin, Moscow and Warzaw in the 1920s, later Counsellor of the Legation in Berlin, Paris, Turkey, Israel and Greece, and finally Consul General in Hamburg from 1954. Hoffmeyer's interest in collecting silver was pervasive and he acquired items in all the cities he lived. Thence by descent with residence in Denmark, until today.

Condition

Minor dents, scratches and marks. One top rim with minor crack.
