On June 12, 1944 - only six days after D-Day - British Prime Minister Winston Churchill went to Normandy in Northern France and visited the beaches, which a few days earlier had been the scene of one of the most decisive military battles in recent world history, the invasion of Nazi occupied Europe, known by the code name 'Operation Overlord'.
This is an original black-and-white silver gelatin press photograph from 1944, which shows severe discolouration in the left side (front). Furthermore, signs of handling, including fine surface scratches. Back has yellowed/appears severely discoloured.
