A collection of 26 German livery silver-plated bottons, cast with the Glücksburg coat of arms, several totally identical and all similar with small variations in expression and size. Some marked e.g. Bellair & Co Berlin or Extra Fein. Late 19th century. Diam. c. 1.5 cm. (26)
The present buttons were probably made for Duke Friedrich Ferdinand of Glücksburg (1855–1934) and acquired in connection with his wedding in 1885 to Princess Caroline Mathilde of Augustenburg (1885–1934). She was the sister of Princess Augusta Viktoria of Augustenborg, who in 1881 married Emperor Wilhelm II of Germany. The ducal couple at Glücksborg may have wanted things to be more aristocratic, when the German imperial family came to visit. At Glücksborg Castle, a dinner séance is on display today, where the German Empress is a guest. Here, the servants wear livery and the type of these buttons.

Minimal marks and scratches. In need of cleaning and polishing. Some with a bit wry or repaired eyelets. Some with unevenness an dents on the reverse.
