A rare antique Caucasian rug, most likely from the Kasak or the Karabagh region. A very unusual design, centre field of two vertical columns with straight stylized flower vines surrounded by stylized floral/palmette mainborder on a red field, reciprocal arrowhead outer guard border. Shirazi(original): three cord, soft red/light brown. Knot: symetrical knot(G1). Weft: two 2–3 red wool. Warp: wool, natural color. Second half 19th century. 255×143 cm.
