Carl Fabergé (, Moscow 1894)

A Russian silver bowl, circular body with two handles, cast with leaf vine and beading, gadrooned bottom, on four animal paws. Carl Fabergé, marked with the Imperial Russian double-headed eagle as purveyor to the Russian Imperial Court, assayer Anatoli Apollonovich Artsibashev 1895, Moscow town Mark, 84 standard. Weight c. 1,830 g. H. 10 cm/15.5 cm. W. 33.5 cm. Diam. 23 cm.

Provenance: Forest supervisor, courtmaster and chamberlain Rasmus Balslev Leth (1839–1920). He worked in the Danish province of Northern Zealand, including the forests near Fredensborg and Frederiksborg Palaces. Here his position included being the organizer of the Royal hunts for King Christian IX of Denmark when he had foreign visits of e.g. his family from Russia. Thus, Rasmus Balslev Leth received this Russian silver bowl from Tsar Nicholas II of Russia in gratitude for faithful service. Thence by descent until today.
