Elias Hjörleifsson (b. 1945, d. 2001)

Olafur Eliasson (b. Copenhagen 1967)

“The wave moving on the sea between Greenland and Iceland”. Signed Olafur Eliasson, Elias 99. Indian ink on foam board. Sheet size 40×29 cm.

Provenance: Stalke Galleri, Copenhagen.

This drawing is based on a concept that Eliasson produced with his father, Elias Hjörleifsson. Hjörleifsson, who was an artist as well as a sailor, created the drawings on the boat where he worked. A pen was hung from the ceiling of the ship's dining area, touching paper, which absorbed the ink. The ship's movement made the drawing.

This lot is subject to Artist's Royalty.
