Evelyn Heepe (1881–1955) was an English reciter living in Denmark. She recited English-language literature in Scandinavia and Germany and Scandinavian literature in England and in The United States. Heepe was known in literary circles all over the world as an eminent reciter, and, through her English recitals from the works of Danish authors, she made a valuable contribution to the knowledge of Danish culture abroad. One of many great celebrities Heepe met on her way, was the Indian poet, composer, philosopher and social reformer Rabindranath Tagore who spent three chaotic and enthusiastic days in Copenhagen in May 1921. At the time, he was perhaps the world's most widely read contemporary writer. The first non-Western Nobel Prize winner in 1913 – the only one to have written the national anthem for two countries (India and Bangladesh). List of contributors available upon request.
