Nørklerne – a group of volunteers doing handicrafts to support the cause – have knitted and crocheted their very own take on a beautiful home-knitted Christmas tree in yarn. The Christmas tree consists of several sections that can be stacked to form a Christmas tree. The tree comes with a multitude of home-made products made by volunteers all over the country. There are 5,000 volunteers nationwide who knit, crochet and sew various handicrafts for vulnerable target groups in local care homes, hospitals, institutions and the like, or for sale in Red Cross shops. The Christmas tree is a tribute to the many volunteer “Nørklere” in Denmark.
“We’ve thrown ourselves into crocheting and knitting the Christmas tree, decorations and gifts together with around 20 other volunteers from Sønderborg. However, it took a little longer than we expected. Under the tree, there are pot holders, dish cloths, sweaters, a large blanket and a host of other goodies.” – Volunteers Yrsa and Nina

The Danish Red Cross Youth’s Christmas Tree Auction. The Danish Red Cross Youth has invited famous and creative personalities to decorate 11 Christmas trees using their own imaginative ideas. The trees are decorated with products from their own brands or from carefully selected partners.
By bidding on one or more of the 11 fantastic trees, you not only get an ocean of wonderful designs and experiences, but you also help vulnerable children and young people during a festive season that can be difficult, when it’s not possible to spend Christmas safe at home. The sum raised from the auction goes, among other things, towards giving children and young people who are forced to spend Christmas in women’s shelters, residential institutions, hospitals or the like, some lovely, cosy Christmas experiences.
