In auction 2516 we are offering a small collection of Knud Odde paintings, with some of the artist's most emblematic figures from his breakthrough period in the early 90s. Among them are Siggimund Blue, Erich von Stroheim and Sergej Ejsenstein, all of whom are recurring figures and focal points in Odde's pictorial universe. These are powerful and contrasting portraits, where expressions and fragments appear in a kind of exchange between each other and also across the avantgarde gallery of figures and Odde's close environment and his band members. As in Odde's own creation Siggimund Blue, these are also composite visualizations of something both concrete and immaterial; the 80s' pitch-black melancholy and romance, David Bowie's mythological figure Ziggy Stardust and perhaps Odde's younger self.
