A Chinese gilt copper alloy figure of Amitayus, seated in dhyanasana on a square, pierced throne with a flaming mandorla, hands in a meditative position holding a now missing nectar vase, wearing jewellery and an elaborate crown. Inscription to bottom. Weight app. 1745 g. Qianlong 1736–1795. H. 20.5 cm.
Brought home by Consul J. F. Rantoft (1880–1961), who was active as a consul in Shanghai in the 1930s.
