Trotsky (1879–1940) was one of the central figures in the Russian Revolution of 1917, in which year he became leader of the Red Army. In 1929, he was expelled from the Soviet Union and murdered in 1940 by a Stalinist agent in Mexico.
This is an original b/w gelatin silver photograph from 1940. Faded. Three creased corners. Surface somewhat 'speckled'. Back with some discolouration. Telegram has yellowed. Pane on backside broken.
