Provenance: The collection of manufacturer Bernhard Hirschsprung and his wife Emma, their auction 1911 no. 719. Here acquired by goldware manufacturer Georg Hertz (1834–1908).

After P.S. and Marie Krøyer (1867–1940) had returned home from their honeymoon in Italy, they stayed in Hornbæk in 1891. They borrowed the painter Carl Locher's house and lived here from mid-February until spring.
