“Moonraker” is the 11th movie about the British secret agent James Bond, who was created by the author Ian Fleming back in the 1950s.
Initially the producers had planned to shoot “For Your Eyes Only”, not “Moonraker”, yet after the enormous success which George Lucas' “Star Wars” obtained in 1977, they chose to go for Fleming's “Moonraker” instead. Apart from the name of the villain and a few minor details, however, the final movie has very little to do with its literary roots.
