Laurids de Thurah (b. Aarhus 1706, d. s.p. 1759)

A collection of seven views from Copenhagen, including “Prospect af Graae Brödre Torv”, “Prospect af gammel Torv” og “Prospect af Kongens Torv”. Text in Danish, French and German. Copper engravings. Plate sizes c. 28×43 cm. (7).

Laurids de Thurah (1706–59) is the principal representative of Baroque architecture in Denmark. All the engravings were published in his monumental masterwork on Danish architecture “Den Danske Vitruvius” (1746–49).

Condition

The paper has turned slightly brown. Some with discolourations. Four with tears, mostly along the edges. Examined in frame.
