A chrysoberyl is a rare and attractive gem, and with a hardness of 8.5 very durable. The cat’s-eye effect is caused by parallel needle-like inclusions within the stone, and displays the chatoyancy. Another effect is called milk and honey, two colours of the stone split by the chatoyant band.
