An unmounted cabochon chrysoberyl with cat-eye effect weighing app. 7.01 ct. Measurement app. 8.7×10.5 mm. H. app. 9 mm. A chrysoberyl is a rare and attractive gem, and with a hardness of 8.5 very durable. The cat’s-eye effect is caused by parallel needle-like inclusions within the stone, and displays the chatoyancy. Another effect is called milk and honey, two colours of the stone split by the chatoyant band.

According to the seller, aquired in Sri Lanka in 1972. Accompanied by appraisal paper from Klarlund with replacement value DKK 48,000,- 1996. Acompanied by identification paper from Henriette Hornsleth. 2024.
