NASA photographer: An original NASA colour offset photograph of the Apollo 11 astronauts Neil Armstrong (1930–2012), Edwin “Buzz” Aldrin (b. 1930) and Michael Collins (b. 1930) prior to the launching in July 1969. Photo size 21×28 cm. Frame size 33×43 cm.
Neil Armstrong was chosen to NASA's astronaut program as early as 1962 and four years later, in 1966, he accomplished the very first coupling ever in space in his capacity of captain of the Gemini 8 mission. Aboard the Apollo 11 he was accompanied by very experienced men, namely Edwin “Buzz” Aldrin - a professor of astronautics, the science of space travels and space technology - and finally Michael Collins, who - like the two orthers - used to be a US military test pilot. As a member of the Apollo 11 crew Michael Collin's role is to navigate the Columbia, the vessel intended to bring the three astronauts back to Earth.
This is an original NASA colour offset photograph from 1969, which shows modest signs of handling.
