Sino-Tibetan gilt copper alloy figure of Buddha Shakyamuni, seated in dhyanasana on a double lotus throne, right hand in the bhumisparsha mudra, the left resting in a meditative position in the lap, dressed in a monk's robe with beaded border, forehead with defined urna, the head with a pronounced ushnisha. Not sealed. With wooden stand. 16th century. Weight 394 g. H. 13.5 cm.
Provenance: J. P. Islef, accounting officer at Store Nordiske Telegrafselskab, stationed in China from c. 1898 to shortly before World War II.
