Karin Nathorst Westfelt (b. Svärdsjö Sogn, Sverige 1921, d. Aarhus 2013)
Mountain landscape. Signed and dated KNW 47. Oil on canvas. 58×45 cm.
The Swedish-Danish artist Karin Nathorst Westfelt begins her studies at the Konstfackskolan in Stockholm 1938–1942, then the art academies in Stockholm 1942–1948 and Copenhagen 1946–1950. Nature experiences, especially from travels in Norway, Sweden and Iceland, are her primary source of inspiration for the often dramatic and colourful depiction of natural phenomena in an abstract visual expression - in artistic kinship with Else Alfeldt.
She carries out several major decoration tasks, and receives the Eckersberg Medal in 1981.
