An Indian sandstone high relief of Apsara standing on a narrow ledge with right hip pushed back, wearing a swirling scarf above hips and around arm and leg, right hand raised holding a lotus flower bud, the hair pulled back and piled up to the side. 10th-11th century. Mounted on wooden base. H. 47 cm.

Provenance: Hakon Christiansen (1893–1960) senior director of EAC, East Asiatic Company Ltd; stationed, mainly in Bangkok, from 1926 till well after World War II.

According to a note the figure belongs to the Chandela School of Bundelkhan also linked to the Khajuraho temples.
