The present example of an Omega Speedmaster 145.012–67 SP is an exceedingly rare timepiece which has been dubbed ‘’Ultraman’’ by collectors after a Japanese Kaiju sci-fi series of the same name from the early 1970s. In the series fourth installment directed by Hajime Tsuburaya, ‘’The Return of Ultraman’’ (1971–1972), the production team armed the heroic monster fighters with Omega Speedmaster models, all equipped with an orange chronograph hand, seemingly matching the orange jumpsuits of the team. Furthermore, this timepiece is accompanied by an Extract of the Archives from 2019, having been examined by Omega, noting that this particular timepiece was specially fitted with an orange chronograph hand. There is no exact estimate of how many reference 145.012–67 SP were produced with an orange chronograph hand, however, those that have been correctly identified are typically produced in the serial range of 26'076'XXX and 26'079'XXX, making this ''Ultraman'' one of the earliest and most coveted examples available on the market today.
