In a draft for a letter dated 21. February 1835 Eckersberg describes the scene (in Danish): “King Frederik IV was accompanied by his brothers Carl and Wilhelm, field marshal Christian Gyldenløve, general Reventlau and other members of the King's staff inspecting the new militia in their new uniforms having received their flag. They are standing in the square between Børsen (The Stock Exchange) and Copenhagen's old castle”.
