Vera Myhre is particularly known as a graphic artist and for her great work to improve the conditions of artists. She attends the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts from 1941, where she ris taught by Aksel Jørgensen and Vilhelm Lundstrøm. In 1947 she makes her debut as a painter at the Artists' Autumn Exhibition, but later she studies at the academy's graphic school.
Over the years, Vera Myhre has been awarded several distinctions for her contribution to Danish art life, both as a fine representative of genuine graphic craftsmanship and as a staunch advocate of modern art. Among the awards are the Eckersberg Medal 1981, the Tagea Brandt Travel Grant 1983 and the Anne Marie Telmányis Grant 1996. In 1981 she is appointed Knight of the Order of Dannebrog and in 1984 she is awarded a lifetime grant from the Danish Arts Foundation. At the academy's founding ceremony in 1998, she is the first woman to be appointed an honorary member of the Academy of Fine Arts.
