Danneskjold-Samsøe writes about the painting (in Danish): “Leonora Christina in Maribo Monastery is painted over the phrase 'The Countess' most important occupation was fear of God”. The interior is featured with among other things a colourful chair; the figure is seen in profile against the window, she seems significant and serious, superbly characterized as an old woman".
