The motifs are originally from 1918 and 1927. After Max Beckmann's death in 1950, his son Peter Beckmann took over the rights to his father's work and from the 1960s through the 1980s published posthumous reprints based on the original copper plates.
Provenance: The collection of the artist Peter Brandes (acquired 2019, inscription on the reverse).
