A ballock dagger of Burgundy type dated 1454 with an ivory grip ending in a flat engraved iron disk with inscription along the edge and in the middle a lamb carrying a cross surrounded by 8 half circles. Along the edge the inscription “CARNEM QVM GVSTAS NONADTERITVLLA VETVSTAS PERPEVVS CIBVS ET REGAT HOC REVS AMEN”. Downturned quillon ending in frogs heads marked ANNO on one side and 1454 on the other. The c 31.5 cm long blade with armour piercing point is engraved with leaves and makers mark on the ricasso.

Condition

The grip with age cracks, the iron spotted and somewhat rust marked.
