Poul Henningsen (b. Ordrup 1894, d. Hillerød 1967)

“PH-3/2”/“Question Mark”. Standard lamp with frame and socket house of browned brass, mounted with one layer opal glass shades. Socket house stamped Patented. This example manufactured 1931–1933 by Louis Poulsen. H. 140 cm.

Rare first edition.

This floor lamp was introduced in 1931, and the frame was redesigned in 1933, so therefore this particular floor lamp is from the first generation with a frame of composite parts and cylinder-shaped socket house. This lamp represents Poul Henningsen's ongoing attempts in designing a lamp where the position of the light source can be adjusted during use. This can also be seen in designs such as the “Piano” lamp and in the later ”Water Pump” lamp.
