Early “Fireplace Chair” with oak frame. Seat and back with woven leather straps. This example made approx. 1940–45, presumably by cabinetmaker Gustav Bertelsen.
Presumably, the chair is an unknown simplified variant of the Kindt-Larsen couple's iconic “Fireplace Chair”, which was presented at the Cabinetmakers' Guild Exhibition in 1940. In its basic form, the chair is very similar to this one.
Very good restored condition. Leather straps attacted with brass studs. Normal patina due to age and use, including some scratches and marks.
