A small occasional table with glass top under which a gilded, mother-of-pearl inlaid and lacquered panel. Silver medal on Exposition Universelle in Paris 1855. Medal included. H. 63 cm. W. 70 cm. D. 50 cm. (2).
The table was made in 1854/1855 by the Danish lacquer master Jens Marius True, born 1815 and granted trade license in Copenhagen in 1842. His works are known, among other places, from an exhibition at Charlottenborg, Copenhagen in 1844, where the committee highlighted the pieces he displayed. I 1854 True was endorsed to participate in the Paris World Exhibition the following year. Here the table was awarded the silver medal (included). Until the present day the table has been in the possession of Jens Marius True's family.
