Gerth Lyberth (b. Manîtsok (Sukkertoppen) 1867, d. s.p. 1929)

A pair of Greenlandic painted wood busts depicting an Inuit man and woman in traditional clothes, the woman in sealskin anorak, man with bone teeth. Signed GL and 1780 and 1000–1920. H. 73/77 cm. (2)

Provenance: Axel Kristian Marius Vinterberg, Colony manager in Holsteinborg. Thence by descent.

Condition

Cracks, chipped, noses damaged, collar damaged. Woman teeth missing, man missing instrument(?) under hood.
