A Hungarian Renaissance silvergilt tankard, gilt interior, the tapered cylindrical body chased with foliage, scrolls and three cartouches with harvest allegories, the lower body with stylized leaf band above domed base, the cover with band of foliage and fruits surrounding a Hercules finial, cast cherub thumbpiece, scroll handle cast with caryatide and mascaroon. 17th century. Maker possibly Johannes (Hans) Fridericus Benedick, Nagyszeben c. 1632–1651 (M. Rosenberg, volume IV, no. 8084). Weight 595 g. H. 21.5 cm.
