“If someone finds my paintings puzzling – and they probably do – you can say that I’m not a naturalist, and that’s the last thing I'm trying to be. But I want to imbue the “surface” with something more than the sharpness and precision of the surface painting. Contrastingly, I explore the field that lies virtually between the surface and the viewer. The transitions of the surfaces are therefore diffuse and uncertain ... ”
