With index, engraved plan of St. Petersburg (no key leaf) and 42 lithographic plates + one additional plate. Each view is identified with a caption in French, with the exception of the final plate. Minor foxing throughout. Soiling and dampstaining to front cover. 5 plates with minor marginal tear (outside plate). Bound in publisher's orig. half cloth, printed paper label repeating the title page on upper cover.

Alexandre Pluchart (1777–1827) was a printer, lithographer, painter, and publisher in St. Petersburg. The plates include views of palaces, street scenes, monuments, the Hermitage, as well as two plates depicting early suspension bridges. A celebrated collection of early Russian lithographs showing scenes of daily life and transportation in St. Petersburg during the early 19th century.
