Gavrila Artemiev (, Moscow 1734)

A Russian Baroque silver-gilt beaker, of light tapering form, chased and embossed with scrolling stylized flowers and foliage in between two cartouches with a putto and an animal scenery leaning on maskerons. Gavrila Artemiev, assay scrape, assayer Afansi Rybakov and year mark 1734, Moscow town mark. Weight c. 84 g. H. 8 cm. Diam. 7.2 cm.

Provenance: The Danish Envoy and Consul General Hans Poul Hoffmeyer (1893–1962). Thence by descent with residence in Denmark, until today.
