Gerda von Kohl (b. Frederiksberg 1885, d. Birkerød 1964)

Blooming cherry blossom branches. Signed with monogram and dated 1916. Gouache on paper. Visible size 58×87 cm.

Gerda von Kohl was daughter of the Danish pinater Viggo Johansen and Martha Møller, married first time with the author Loius von Kohl, second time with the author Max Mezger. She was inspired by Vilhelm Hammershøi, Prince Eugen and Richard Bergh. In a period she also worked for Royal Copenhagen.

Condition

Some retouches. Faint foxing in the lower left corner. The paper has been augmented with an extra piece at the top. Examined in frame.
