An original b/w gelatin silver press photograph af the American athlete Jesse Owens (1913–1980) during the Berlin Olympic Games in the summer of 1936. Present development 1953. Back with restriction stamp ('This Picture May Not Be ...') and stamped publication date (September 12, 1953). Furthermore handwritten pencil note, '40th Birthday'. Fiber based photographic paper. Double glazing. Photo size 25×20 cm. Frame size 36×31 cm.

Jesse Owens, born James Cleveland Owens in Oakville, Alabama, won a phenomenal four gold medals at the 1936 Summer Olympics in Berlin (August 1–16): August 3 in the 100 meter dash, August 4 in the long jump, August 5 in the 200 meter dash, and finally on August 9 in the 4×100 meter run. It wasn't until the 1984 Olympics that his record was equaled by Carl Lewis in the exact same events. The photo's publication coincides with Jesse Owens' 40th birthday in 1953.

Condition

This is an original b/w gelatin silver press photograph from 1953. A few pressure marks. Somewhat yellowed. Furthermore normal signs of handling. No further remarks.
