Portrait of a duke of Savoy. Signed and dated Blachon 1847. Indistinct inscribed on the pillar: “Carolus Emmanuel DVX Scavole [...] 1592”. Oil on canvas. 92×75 cm.

Based on the Latin text on the pillar the portrait presumably depicts Duke Charles Emmanuel I of Savoy (1562–1630), duke from 1580.

Condition

A repair / patch on the reverse. A minor tear/patch on the reverse. In need of a light surface cleaning. Retouches. Minor peelings and crackles.
