Unknown photographer: An original b/w press photograph of the Congolese president Patrice Émery Lumumba after his capture on December 2nd, 1960. Back with AP stamp and describing news telegram dated December 4th, 1960. Photo size 13.5×18 cm. Unframed.

In June 1960 Patrice Lumumba became the first president of the republic of Congo. However, he stayed in office for only a brief while. After 10 weeks his government was overthrown and he himself was executed a few months later, in January 1961.
