The dedication from Hans Christian Andersen is to Ingeborg Drewsen, (married to Adolph Drewsen), who lived in the house of the Collin family in Amaliegade, Copenhagen. After her mother-in-law's death in 1845, the lady stayed in the house: “En venlig Morgenhilsen til Fruen i Huset hvor den næste Folkekomedie spiller paa Hjørnet”. (ENG: “A friendly morning greeting to the lady of the house where the next farce plays on the corner”.)
