Although Winston Churchill was defeated in the British general election in the summer of 1945, much to his own regret and surprise - leaving the post of Prime Minister to Labour leader Clement Attlee (1883–1967) - there would be no shortage of other appointments, awards and honours in the years that followed. One of the new titles he was given was 'Lord Warden of the Cinque Ports', a ceremonial post with roots in medieval England.
This is an original b/w press photograph from 1955, which shows a slightly yellowed front and back. Creased corners. Furthermore normal signs opf handling.
